Mrs. French’s cat is missing

9:17AM, 2 weeks ago... Just about thirteen days have passed now since Mrs. French's cat Honey has gone missing.  Mrs. Elaine French mentions that her cat is the sweetest pet ever and has the kindest soul.  The white cat with black spots was reported missing after the French's realized that she never came back for her dinner.  Honey has not missed a dinner for the past 10 years.

Flyer's have been posted everywhere in the village of Pontypool.  If anyone has seen a stray cat of has any information on it's whereabouts, please contact Elaine French at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Any information will be much appreciated.

Hold-up at gunpoint

4:28AM, several hours ago... There is a hostage situation going on at the parking lot of Super-Max Foods. It has been reported that two men, both Caucasian in their mid thirties, have been spotted holding up a vanload of people at gunpoint. Lets hope this tragedy is handled appropriately. More to come as the story unfolds.

Large mob gathering at Dr. John Mendez's Office

7:43AM, a couple hours ago... It appears that a rather unruly crowd has been forming around Dr. John Mendez's office downtown. Eyewitnesses say that there are literally hundreds of people crammed in the parking lot trying to get inside the office. This could be a possible riot of some sort. The local police have been notified. More to come as the story develops.

EXPLOSION AT DR. JOHN MENDEZ'S OFFICE!

8:22AM, several minutes ago... It has just been reported that there was an explosion on the side of Dr. John Mendez's office building where an unruly mob assembled earlier in the day. It's terrible. There are many injured, people are fighting and getting killed, andÉ what is that!? Is that woman biting that elderly man?!?

A hero amongst us.

Embarrassingly enough, I found out recently that our very own radio technician Ms. Laurel Ann Drummond has returned from her tour of duty in Afghanistan not long ago. I have the utmost gratitude for everyone in the armed forces that protect us from dangers of the world and allow us to enjoy the freedoms that we have today. I would like to personally congratulate her on her safe return and thank her for her services. Now, the beautiful and talented Laurel Ann seems to be dealing with the transition back to normalcy very nicely, but I always wonder about the veterans that come back um... a bit fazed. This Posttraumatic Stress Disorder as they call it seems to affect a lot more soldiers these days. Why do you think that is? Has it something to do with one's inability to separate themselves from what's going on around them? Have they just seen too much war and have transformed into a different person? Does it affect personalities differently? I mean two people who have shared the exact same experiences may come back with very diverse responses to this question. Let me know what you think adds to PTSD and your general thoughts about the war.

Marijuana: The debate continues...

Watch out Pontypool, the drug game gets more serious. Pot growers and dealers know that they are involved in a deadly business. A transaction goes bad, shots are fired, and sometimes people are killed. Some of these drug dealers have enough weapons, ammunition, and booby traps to supply a third world country. In fact, the local news has recently uncovered through a drug bust that landmines were scattered throughout one drug lord's residence. Dogs, guns, weapons, landmines, and tons of money were confiscated in the bust.

Landmines? What is going on with people nowadays? More importantly, who knows where these drug dealer's dwell? They can very well be your next-door neighbors and you might not even know! Some of these groups are armed to the teeth and have enough firepower to rival a small army. Do you think this is safe? Where do we finally draw the line and have more national involvement? What if young Timmy stumbles across a random house to grab his baseball and walks over one of these landmines? Should marijuana be legalized to help alleviate some of this? People, I need your responses and opinions!

Is testing on an animal the same as testing on a human being?

I've always wondered why so many people seem to get bent out of shape when the idea of animal testing comes up. Whether it be testing cosmetics on animals or researching a monkey to see if there are any adverse reactions to nicotine, is this right or acceptable? Now, there are ton's of different kinds of experiments that we use animals for, I understand that. But do the end results justify the means?

Lets say for example that Laboratory A was conducting an experiment on the effects of nicotine in lab mice. The scientists have decided to lace their water with nicotine so that they can study the effects that it may have in mammals. Is it right to play the role of God for research? In a different example, Laboratory B wants to conduct an experiment about a new shampoo that happens to cause the user to lose some hair. They decide to test this shampoo on an orangutan to see its results so that they can try to fix the chemical makeup of the shampoo.

My point is, does it make a difference the severity of the test, even if it's done to animals? What are your thoughts?

When do you call 911?

When is it an appropriate time to call 911 for some help?  More often than not, law enforcement agencies seem to respond slower than usual to the public's request for help unless some sort of catastrophic event has taken place.  And if you do happen to get an officer to come and help you out, they usually seem very cavalier and unhelpful.

I was in a situation this morning where I contemplated calling the police, but ultimately decided against it.  As I was talking on my mobile phone pulling into the radio station, a woman in her late thirties approached my car and started banging on the window.  Startled, I rolled down the window to see what she needed, but she seemed to be distraught and incoherent.  She kept repeating herself saying "Ted! Ted! Ted!" or "Dead! Dead! Dead!" or something along those lines.  Then, she started to walk away and drift into the darkness.

Does an odd event like this warrant a call to the police?  What are your thoughts Pontypool?
